Upgrade of the Air Traffic Material Supply Center's Fuel Depot
For lack of space, the fuel depot, lying in the West of the Munich Airport, was extended. The depot is not only fed by a pipeline, but it is also supplied with fuel by rail tank cars and fuel trucks.
For lack of space, the fuel depot, lying in the West of the Munich airport, was extended. The depot is not only fed by a pipeline, but it is also supplied with fuel by rail tank cars and fuel trucks. In order to fully unload a complete freight train on the double-track line, the rails need to be extended by 210m. The rail collector pans are impermeable in order to prevent fuel from seeping into the ground. Double-walled pipes that are connected to the fuel tanks are also safe and impermeable. The main fuel pipe line connecting the rail tank cars with the fuel tanks are run in leak-proof concrete troughs.
For lack of space, electro-technical components such as a low voltage distribution panel (common power supply, emergency power system), PLC and ELCB are installed in a ready-to-use container.
Pumps, slide dampers, loading arms, gas separators, micro filters, the flow metering, filter water separators, the emergency stop, and the leak monitoring unit of the measurement and control system were integrated into the new PLC-system that was connected to the existing control system.
After installing a new transload facility, the old fire extinguishing system was replaced by a new PLC system and the control room was extended accordingly. The installation of the new facility was performed according to strict EEX and German technical control board-standards. Two more construction phases of the fuel depot lie ahead.
